ABOUT THE MUSICIANS:

Pianist and Composer Mark Aanderud, is one of today's most important figures coming out of the mexican scene. His musical experiences extend with such diversity and extraordinary musical capacity from Avant-garde and Contemporary Jazz to Progresive Rock and classical composition and can be heard within his numerous musical projects: Mark Aanderud Trio, Mark Aanderud Strings and Piano Quintet, Mark Aanderud Piano Solo, Aanderud-Hecht Project, 4 Limones with Tim Berne. Mark is part of the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group (The Mars Volta), Ximena Sariñana Band, Hernan Hecht X-Pression Quartet, Rick Parker Collective, Guy Sion Quartet and has played with some of the greatest musicians in the World as Tim Berne, Eli Degibri, Eric Reeves, Rick Parker, Jonathan Kreisberg, Omar Rodriguez (The Mars Volta), and many others. He is about to release his 4th CD as a leader/co-leader.

Saxophonist/composer Tim Berne has become one of the most renowned voices in the avant garde jazz community. Described by critic Thom Jurek as commanding "considerable power as a composer and ... frighteningly deft ability as a soloist,"He first gained notoriety beginning in the 1980's when he would record and distribute five albums under his own name which included such musicians as Ed Schuller, Olu Dara, Paul Motian, John Carter, Glenn Ferris and Bill Frisell. Following two recordings for the Italian Soul Note label, Berne recorded Fulton Street Maul and Sanctified Dreams for Columbia Records. These recordings coincided with an increasingly active worldwide touring schedule. Since then he has released over 30 recordings as a leader and countless others as a sideman.

Originally from Argentina and now residing in Mexico, drummer, producer and composer Hernan Hecht is one of the most exciting talents on the Mexican music scene. His intense performing schedule is filled with work as both a sideman and leader of jazz and pop bands including his own: Hernan Hecht X-Pression Quartet and his new project, Gru-B Project with which he will release his 2nd CD as a leader. As a co-leader: RHA Trio; Brian Allen, Hernan Hecht Duos; Brainkiller Trio; Rick Parker MX Quartet; 4 Limones; Elumen with Tony Malaby as well as pop/rock groups Ely Guerra, Ximena Sarinana and Natalia Lafourcade.

"Sleek and Modernistic" (David Adler) aptly describes the music of trombonist/composer Rick Parker. He has released 2 CD's as a leader gaining him major notoriety by critics and publications such as Downbeat Magazine and Jazz Times. Parker is a 2 time winner of the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award. His band, the Rick Parker Collective, has performed at major venues including the WIlliamsburg Jazz Festival, Somers Point Jazz Festival, 55 Bar, Blues Alley, Chris' Jazz Cafe, Knitting Factory, Cornelia St. Cafe and throughout Mexico. In addition to leading his own groups he also can be regularly heard with groups lead by Frank Lacy, Charli Persip, Tim Kuhl and many others.
