Soprano Olga Orlovskaya
Former principal artist of Gelikon Opera and New Opera in Moscow, Russia, leading guest artist throughout Europe (Rome, Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, Dresden, and more), winner of several international competitions and festivals. Having toured in more than 50 cities of the United States, Olga Orlovskaya makes her Baltimore operatic debut in today's performance. Among other roles her repertoire includes Rosina (Barber di Seviglia), Violetta (La Traviata), and Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor). Her signature role of Katerina in "Lady Macbeth of Mzensk" by Schostakovich, which she has sung at Novosibirsk State Bolshoi Theatre as well as in Moscow, brought her great success. Her beautiful timbre and wide diapason allows her to sing Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) easily and with style. The way Olga Orlovskaya expresses the character, music, intonation with such deep understanding keeps listeners mesmerized.
Baritone Peter Slutsky
Known for the unique color and beauty of his voice, distinctive musical identity, and poetic soul. His outstanding acting ability brought him to the stage and in 1992 he founded the Russian Amateur Drama Theatre in Baltimore, where he was a director and principal actor for several years. But his passion and love for opera have won. He started to perform as an opera singer and each appearance brought him much success. He created unforgettable operatic images of Germont (La Traviata), Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof), Bob (The Old Maid and the Thief), Belcore (L'Elisir d'Amore), and others. The main characters of Russian operas "Aleko" (Rachmaninoff), "Eugene Onegin" and "Dame of Pique" (Tchaikovsky) in Mr.Slutsky's interpretation become so vivid, and his voice so deep and emotional, that one can follow and trust his characters without even understanding the language.
