Raul Sööt has been writing music for various settings, from jazz combos to big bands, and string quartets to symphony orchestras. His compositions and/or arrangements have been presented and recorded by the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, The Metropole Orchestra in Netherlands, Estonian Dream Big Band, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, Pärnu Town Orchestra, XXI Century Orchestra, Kaunas Symphony Orchestra and the WDR Big Band. Raul Sööt also performs frequently on the Estonian jazz scene not only as a sideman but also as a band leader. Raul has Baltimore ties, as he attended the Peabody Conservatory for his formal music education.

Raul Sööt has studied music at Tallinn Music School named after
Georg Ots, at Skurups Folkhögskola in Sweden, Rhythmic Music
Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark, and The Peabody Institute
of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore MD, USA. In Sweden and in
Denmark he studied with Karl-Martin Almqvist, Lars Møller, and
Fredrik Lundin; in the United States his teacher was Gary Thomas.
Raul Sööt started composing music during his studies at Tallinn Music
School, when he also formed his first group.
He has participated in European Youth Jazz Orchestra (Swinging
Europe) as a band member and a composer. He also took part in the
Euroring Arranger's Workshop with John Clayton.
