SAM NITZBERG & MATT DOUGLASS:
Fresh from their celebrated performances at the Creative Alliance for the Woody Guthrie 100th Birthday Celebration, Sam Nitzberg and Matt Douglass return to the Roots Cafe for an evening of their original songs.
Former band mates with The Reactors, a staple in the 1980s Baltimore alternative music scene, singer-songwriters Sam and Matt have been playing music together again quite a bit in the last few years, and have just released "Grayest Hits", a 4-song EP available at http://www.cdbaby.com/samnitzberg."
The Baltimore Sun declared that the Reactors had “followed the lead of new wave acts like the Clash, the Police and Joe Jackson, who have breathed new life into old rock conventions with the fresh air of reggae." After the Reactors disbanded, Nitzberg spent time as lead singer with the Sway before leaving to form the Odds in order to provide another vehicle for his own songs. Douglass released his first CD in 2002, winning honorable mention for songwriting that year from MD Music Monthly Magazine. The roots-rock singer-songwriter's 2008 CD, “Big Lucky,” features 11 originals with an interesting take on rock, country and blues.
