ellen cherry:

An artist incapable of stopping the process of creation, ellen cherry (*lowercase intentional!*) has recorded and released original music continuously since 1997. Her most recent work, "Please Don't Sell the Piano" was released at An Die Musik in April 2012 and continue to garner great reviews. In 2010, ellen released "(New) Years". Each song's title contains a reference to a specific year and the first six tracks are directly inspired by historical events and primary sources such as diaries, photographs and letters. In 2009, ellen composed an original score for Nana Project’s shadow puppet piece, “Alzonzo’s Lullaby”, about a circus train wreck south of Chicago, in 1918, which was awarded the presitigious UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence. ellen also wrote, performed and recorded an original song commissioned by the FOX Networks that was nominated for an Emmy in 2010. In 2011, she was awarded both a “b” grant award by the Baker Artist Awards, as well as the inaugural Semmes G. “Buck” Walsh award for excellence in music. She is co-creator, with Sandy Asirvatham, of "MOBTOWNmoon". This project is a breath-taking new interpretation of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and features a cadre of Baltimore's finest musicians. The project will launch in 2013!

Naked Blue:

When you see husband-and-wife duos touring the country as musical partners, especially if they've been doing it for twenty years, you can be confident that they've achieved a level of communication and compatibility that guarantees the quality of the show. That's definitely the case with Jen and Scott Smith, whose instinctive feel for progressive folk/pop music has resulted in legions of fans on the Eastern Seaboard, and long residencies on radio playlists across the country. Scott's command of the electric guitar is almost ravishing, in tasteful service to Jen's seductive lead vocals and solid rhythm guitar. Maybe it takes at least twenty years to get this good.
