Soulful. Empowering. Tasteful. Mature. All have been used to describe the playing, composing styles and the musicality of trombonist Corey A. Wallace. With a strong sense of tradition, love for all things good music, and a desire to be heard, he is able to reach and captivate audiences with his unique interpretations of melody and approach to improvisation and the music making process. The Baltimore City native has already begun to make a defining footprint in the Baltimore/D.C. area as a trombonist, and with his ability to engage people and soulfully tell the truth in his playing, he is continuing to grasp the attention of many everywhere he goes!

Believing in the tradition of learning directly from his peers and the elders, Wallace has shared the stage and/or has studied with a host of luminaries, such as Wycliffe Gordon, Ben Wolfe, Vincent Gardner, Joe Chambers, Jim McNeely, Grachan Moncur III, Irvin Mayfield, Tim Hagans, Steve Davis, Whit Williams, Tim Green, Warren Wolf, Ronny Burrage, Walt Weiskopf, Howard Johnson, Mark Lusk, Dan Yoder, Jim McFalls, and many others. His talents and artistry have also allowed him to perform at many great venues in the Baltimore/DC area: The Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center, An Die Muzik, Caton Castle, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Bohemian Caverns, Twins Jazz, the ATLAS Performing Arts Center, 9:30 Club, as well as Carnegie Hall in NYC, Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, PA, many venues in and around Zaragoza, Spain, including the Universidad de Zaragoza, and more.

After extensive study at Penn State University and Towson University, Wallace bears undergraduate and graduate degrees from the schools, as well as lasting relationships with the professors, students, and the music schools that have translated into teaching and playing opportunities. He has also taught at Baltimore School for the Arts (2008--2012), coaching the jazz combo, teaching beginning jazz improvisation, directing the BSA Big Band, and leading a class on jazz literature.

Corey regularly performs with the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, the Thad Wilson Jazz Orchestra, the Craig Alston Sextet, and his own groups
