VICTORIA VOX:

Eclectic, upbeat and clever, Victoria Vox, was a highlight of the Roots Café’s Night of 1000 Dylans in 2011. She earned a degree in songwriting from the Berklee College of Music and has become known among the ukulele community for her refreshingly modern and rhythmic technique. Her songs have been featured on NPR, and she appeared on the Jay Leno Show to demonstrate her mouth-trumpet technique. Vox is a first-place award winner for her French tune, “C’est Noyé,” in the International Acoustic Music Awards. She won multiple Wammie (Washington D.C. Area Music Award) winner for her 2010 release “Exact Change." On that album, Baltimore Magazine claimed, “Vox strums and charms her way through 12 tunes that alternately swing back to the jazz age and push forward into indie-rock territory.” Originally from Green Bay, Vox now lives in Baltimore, MD and performs 125+ shows a year across the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe.

KAREN COLLINS:

Country singer and coal miner’s daughter,Karen Collins writes exceptional songs that she delivers in a traditional style – Hazel Dickens meets Loretta Lynn Karen stays busy writing songs and playing with her honky tonk band, the Backroads Band, her Cajun/Zydeco band, Squeeze Bayou, and the acoustic country quartet, the Blue Moon Cowgirls in addition to doing solo shows. Karen’s most recent CD with the Backroads Band, No Yodeling On The Radio is receiving airplay across the US and Europe and was recently #2 on the FAR (Freeform American Roots) Chart. Her song “She Dreams” from the new CD was a top-five Country Winner in the 13th Annual Great American Song Contest. Several of her songs have appeared on the NPR show, “Car Talk.”

Though he is best known as a music critic for the Washington Post, Baltimore City Paper, Nashville Scene, Jazz Times, No Depression, Paste and others, Geoffrey Himes is also a longtime singer-songwriter who has co-written songs with Fred Koller, Walter Egan, Sonia Rutstein, Billy Kemp, Stephen Wade, Jim Patton, Paul Margolis, Josh Charles, Timothy Bracken, Howard Markman, Andrew Grimm, Bob Kannenberg and others. This month Himes will premiere his new song, “That’s Great, I Mean, That’s Terrible."
