Love: Error & Eros
Come celebrate Valentine's Day with Dyana Neal (mid-day host of WBJC) and Baltimore's own Lorraine Whittlesey as they present a Contemporary Cabaret event. The program will include standards by the likes of Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, & Simon & Garfunkel, as well as a special treat composed by Lorraine Whittlesey! They will perform traditional love songs from various eras and some original works, as well. Jim Knost will be our featured guest.
Dyana Neal has performed in operas, operettas, musical theater, plays, and original cabaret shows throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. She was a member of the Baltimore Opera Chorus from 2002-2009 and has sung with the Lyric Opera Baltimore Chorus as well. Favorite roles include Zerbina in "Zippy the Pinhead", Lady Macbeth in "Macbeth", Pitti-Sing in "The Mikado", Sympathy the Learned in "The Arabian Nights", Anne Boleyn in "Royal Gambit", and The Fairy Queen in "Iolanthe." Ms. Neal is perhaps best known as the midday host at WBJC-FM, a position she has held since 1993.
Ms Neal recently portrayed the character of Zerbina, Zippy's erstwhile spouse, in ZIPPY THE PINHEAD: THE MUSICAL. She is well known as a featured performer in the musical worlds of Opera and Cabaret.
Lorraine L. Whittlesey began her performance career as a member of the Peanut Gallery for NBC's HOWDY DOODY show and studied TV and Film scoring @ UCLA. She wrote and produced ZIPPY THE PINHEAD: THE MUSICAL, and is collaborating with Michael Salcman, MD, setting his poems to original music. Her compositions have been performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Concert Artists of Baltimore. She was composer-in-residence @the American Visionary Art Museum and her music was performed by Artista Hip Hop Artists, Naughty By Nature. She's very pleased to be performing once again @An die Musik and wishes to thank performers Dyana Neal and Jim Knost, and also Henry Wong and his staff for this opportunity.
