The George “Doc” Manning Stage
Our stage honors our friend and co-worker of more than 30 years. Doc had an encyclopedic knowledge of jazz history, and he cared deeply about the legacy and the future of the jazz genre. For nearly three decades, he hosted a weekly jazz show on Morgan State University’s WEAA-FM, on which he interviewed many of the musicians whom he introduced from our stage, enhanced with the stories they tell through their artistry.
